If you, or someone you care about, would benefit from additional assistance then the Commonwealth Home Support Program may be the perfect solution.

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is an initiative providing extra assistance around the home, including a wide range of services which can be tailored to your individual requirements. Support is available with services including house cleaning, home maintenance services, social support and personal care. 

Some of the situations where you might like to consider CHSP include if you have experienced the following:

– noticed that memory has become a bit challenging
– reduced mobility
– been diagnosed with a medical condition
– family care arrangements have altered

CHSP can be modified and changed over time to ensure that you can receive the support you need whilst remaining independant!

Services available through CHSP

Domestic Assistance & Home Maintenance

Regular and Spring Cleaning.
Home maintenance and repairs, and garden maintenance.

Meals

Shopping and assistance with meal preparation including delivery of meals if required.

Personal Care

Personal care services include bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene.

Social Support

Social support including assistance with attending external social events.

Are you eligible?

The Commonwealth Home Support Program is a government subsidised program for eligible persons and it is based on your age and the level of support you need. If you are finding everyday tasks difficult and feel that you need a little support, then the Commonwealth Home Support Program can provide it for you. 

To be eligible for this program you must be 65 years or older (50 years for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people). Please also note that if you are on a low income, homeless or at risk of being homeless and aged 50 years or older (45 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people) please call the My Aged Care contact centre on 1800 200 422 to discuss your situation.

If your needs are more complex, a Home Care Package could be better suited to you.

How do you apply?

There are a couple of ways you can apply for the Commonwealth Home Support Program.

Call My Aged Care

You can call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. From there, the My Aged Care contact centre may refer you for a home support assessment, where a Regional Assessment Service (RAS) assessor will contact you to arrange an in-home assessment.

Online

You can use the My Aged Care online form to apply which will only take approximately 15-20 minutes. If you get stuck completing this application then you are welcome to contact us and we can assist you. We are here to ensure you are taken care of and understand what is available for you.

What do you do once approved?

Once your assessment shows that you are eligible for services under the Commonwealth Home Support Program, then please contact us by calling 1300 773 202 and we can help you put these services in place.
